Do you use Hexane or other chemicals in your extraction process?
NO. Never have and never will. Instead of cutting corners with chemicals, we’ve invested in equipment that performs the extraction process naturally and efficiently. We take pride in producing a safe, high quality, all-natural product.
Does Great Lakes Gold contain any additives?
No, Great Lakes Gold is made from 100% soybeans without any additives, emphasizing our commitment to a pure and natural product.
How should I store Great Lakes Gold?
Store in a cool, dark place in a tightly sealed container to prevent oxidation and rancidity. Avoid exposure to air and light to extend the shelf life of the oil.
What makes high oleic oil different from conventional soybean oil?
High oleic soybean oil contains a significantly higher oleic acid content, often exceeding 60%, compared to the 20-30% typically found in conventional soybean oil. This abundance of oleic acid enhances the oil’s stability and extends its shelf life.
What is Oleic Acid?
Oleic acid is a type of monounsaturated fatty acid found in various plant and animal fats. Oleic acid in cooking oils is known for its stability and resistance to oxidation, which means it doesn’t go rancid as quickly when exposed to air, light, or high temperatures.
How is high oleic soybean oil used?
Due to its enhanced stability and resistance to high temperatures, high oleic soybean oil is often preferred in commercial frying operations where oil stability is crucial.
How long will high oleic oil extend oil life in my fryers?
The life of a fry oil will depend heavily on the parameters of frying (temperature, filtering, top-off, type of food) When compared with conventional soybean oil in laboratory tests, high oleic soybean oil lasted approximately two to three times longer in the fryer using 25% TPC content as the discard point.
